For the upcoming 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, major forecasting authorities, including Colorado State University (CSU) and AccuWeather, are predicting a below-average to near-average level of activity. This “quieter” outlook is primarily driven by a developing El Niño pattern, which typically increases vertical wind shear that can disrupt or prevent storm.
